Hello, World!
About Me
Aloha! I’m Laurence A. Lee, a Technical Solutions Architect and Lead Software Engineer. I am currently based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and primarily develop solutions for Hawaii Businesses or for West Coast based projects. Some of the more interesting things I actively develop, contribute to, or advocate as a Solutions Platform include:
- Microsoft .NET - I am a Microsoft Certified Enterprise Applications Developer (MCPD: Enterprise Applications Developer). This includes training and certifications in the .NET Core Libraries, along with Web, Windows, and Distributed Applications development.
- CRM Software Development - I was a Technical Architect that built E.piphany CRM Solutions, and developed Sales/Service solutions and Data Warehouses built on E.piphany E.5 and E.piphany E.6. Of course, I went through all of E.piphany's training courses, and I still have a copy of the training course materials.
- Fedora Core (Linux) - I am a Fedora Ambassador, representing Hawaii and the Pacific Rim areas. I primarily advocate Fedora as a reasonably stable "Bleeding Edge" platform to develop against.
- Ruby on Rails - I do most of my smaller projects or prototypes in Ruby on Rails. I also keep track of alternative Ruby Platforms, such as JRuby (a Ruby implementation for the Java JVM), IronRuby, and Ruby.NET (Ruby implementations for Microsoft .NET and GNU Mono).
- Xbox-Linux - I occasionally spend some time refreshing the Xbox-Linux patches to apply against the latest Linux 2.6 Kernel Sources. This is primarily for my work on XFedora, a patched Fedora Core solution that runs on a modified Xbox.
CRM Software Development
I am probably most notorious for my work on a large Customer Relationship Management (CRM) project for a Las Vegas Casino, using the E.piphany CRM Platform. What made my work in Vegas unique was how fast my team of 4 developers were able to take a Concept and turn it around to Production Deployment. Our fastest implementation was deployed in under 5 months! :-) Typical projects of similar size and scope would normally have taken 18 months to code, test, and deploy to production.
Of course, the Vegas Team was blessed with very talented individuals -- our core developers Eduard D., Mudit C., Dan C., (and myself), our E.piphany technical consultants Sam L. and Sean P., and the amazingly visionary Business Process Owner, Melania A in Casino Marketing.
Thanks guys, all of you ROCKED on those Vegas projects! I miss working with you all. :-)
Other Miscellaneous Projects
A fair amount of free time is spent tinkering on personal projects, published elsewhere on this website.
- SSH Tunnel Creator - a modified version of Shun-Ichi Goto's connect.c that adds NTLM Authentication support. This in turn allows you to use SSH from behind a Microsoft Proxy Server.
- DVD Burner in an Xbox - A hardware hack to make an off-the-shelf DVD Burner compatible with the Xbox. It works great with Xbox-Linux.
Not404 Legacy
Some of the older projects I've worked on no longer have an active hacker community. Rather than risk all that knowledge being lost, I try to maintain an archive of my work on those projects, as well as other relevant "hacker community" artifacts at legacy.not404.com. While I can't guarantee these resources will remain at Not404 Legacy forever, at least they're around and minimally supported by me for a little while longer.
Such legacy projects are archived at Not404 Legacy, including the Linksys WRT55AGv2 Router, and the Netpliance I-Opener.
